Weekly Paid Holiday Allowance FAQ
Who qualifies for the weekly paid holiday allowance?
Under Article 55 of the Labor Standards Act and Article 30 of its Enforcement Decree, any worker with contracted weekly hours of 15 or more who worked every scheduled day that week without absence qualifies — including part-time and hourly workers, not just full-time employees.
If I work more than 40 hours a week, do I get a larger allowance?
No. The allowance is capped at one day's worth of pay, based on a maximum of 8 hours. Even if your contracted weekly hours exceed 40, the allowance is still calculated as 8 hours × your hourly wage.
Does being late or leaving early count as an absence?
No. Being late or leaving early doesn't affect your full-attendance status. Only a full-day absence on a scheduled work day disqualifies you from that week's allowance.
Can I get the allowance if I just started this week?
Yes, as long as you meet the 15-hour minimum and have no absences. However, if your contract ends partway through the week before you complete all scheduled work days, eligibility may need to be assessed separately.
This calculator applies the standard formula under Article 55 of the Labor Standards Act and Article 30 of its Enforcement Decree (contracted weekly hours ÷ 40 × 8 × hourly wage), for reference only. Actual amounts may vary based on your employment contract or workplace circumstances.
